The all bronze Eagle edition began in the 90's with the permission and enthusiastic support of Mr Gurney himself. Dan granted me permission to access Eagle 104 which was, and still is, a main attraction at the Rev's Institute in Naples, Florida. Every dimensional detail was photographed and measured for accurate reproduction in 1:10 scale. With the exception of the properly scaled brass hardware that fastens the suspension together, the entire car is formed by the assembly of nearly 100 individual, hand finished, solid bronze castings.
The process section of this website will provide more information on the procedures involved in producing an all bronze piece of automotive art this complex. Each of the three cars in the Eagle edition required several months to finish and assemble. Prior to the assembly phase, each component was fabricated by hand and then molds were built and finally each piece was cast and finished in gleaming bronze. And finally, the curly maple base is mounted on a ball bearing turntable to allow 360 * rotation. The weight of the Eagle sculpture is forty five pounds.
